Our Introduction

M. Hakala Ltd. started out as a small, one-person company in 1974, and gradually grew up to the corporation you see in front of you today: an esteemed and extremely proficient subcontracting machine workshop for stainless steel machining, known for our skills in moulding and shaping special materials. We put our emphasis on delivering high quality products quickly, and creating and maintaining steady long-term customerships.

Our customer promise

Our customers appreciate our quick and reliable communication combined with our recognition of customer needs. These attributes are grounded in our willingness to create the best experience possible in regards to products, delivery times, and overall customer satisfaction. We create our customer agreements on an individual level based on customer needs, and can provide all related services from component production to storing.

Our background

In 1974, Matti and Riitta Hakala decided to take the big leap and start their own company. The first premises were small, only 40 sqm, yet effective. In addition to black iron, the company processed acid treated and stainless steel right from the onset. The company’s first employee, Jouni Porkka, is working in the company to this day.

After moving to larger premises, the next huge step was taken in 1985, when the company took its first steps into automation machining by acquiring their first CNC machine tool. The strive to progress eventually led up to the purchase of equipment that was first of its kind in Finland: Deckel Maho DMC 80 FD Machine Center in 2006.

In 2009, the company had grown so large that it decided to expand their premises: a 4700 sqm facility situated in Kouvola, Finland. With this change, it was also a good time to initiate generation change in the company. In 2010, Matti Hakala’s daughter, Sanna Tiitinen, took her father’s place as the CEO of the now well established company. Matti Hakala still acts as the Head of the Board of Directors.

M. Hakala Ltd. can process and cast various materials, including stainless steel, aluminium, steel, bronze, and plastic. We possess the knowhow required to work with special materials, like titanium or Hastelloy alloys. Our main scope is process industry equipment and machine parts, which we manufacture for a diverse clientele.

The company excels in surface, heat and acid treatments, a service provided with over 40 years of experience.

The process from order to finished product is swift, because we keep a large quantity of several alloys present on-site at any given time. The materials we store for our own production usage include:

Hard and highly alloyed materials processed by hardy professionals

1.4547 (254 SMO), 1.4542 (AISI 630), 1.4438 (AISI 317L), 1.4539 (AISI 904L), 1.4404 (AISI 316L), 1.4301 (AISI 304L), 1.4460 (AISI 329), 1.4462 (SAF2205), 1.4410 (SAF2507), HASTELLOY (C276), TITAN (GR2) Stainless steel rounded bars up to 485 mm. S355 up to 520 mm.

We can provide our customers with the entire chain of services, including transportation and storage. Both in-house and outsourced services are designed and coordinated to produce as quick a workflow as possible. The workflow is further accentuated by our possibility to manufacture parts beforehand and store them to be delivered swiftly upon order. Storage is offered as an additional service.
